Before buying in Salento, I had already covered a great deal of territory. I had scoured Tuscany, Umbria, Naples and its surrounds, Sicily and Sardinia. I had seen houses that pleased me. Sometimes the prices had been pretty attractive but there was always something that stopped me from making the fatal, final plunge pen in hand!

Coming to Salento, I understood it was here that I was meant to buy! The charm and friendliness of the people struck me immediately. The beauty of the sea, at least the equivalent of anywhere else in Italy. The original and diverse gastronomy. The olive grove landscapes. The rocky cliffs plunging down to deep blue sea. The stone buildings. The wonderful Baroque town centres. The extraodinary climate from very hot in the Summer to mild in the Winter, everlasting southern sun.
